Foodies

Ok, I'm starting to feel guilty for a few reasons:

1. I still haven't posted on here.
2. You are all making this delicious and healthy food, and I'm over here stuffing Max and I full of high calorie/low nutritional-value freezer food.

I need to snap out of it!
I blame it on the pregnancy. Food aversions. ESPECIALLY towards raw meat, which means... NO COOKING for me.
I made taco soup one night last week, and then couldn't eat it because I was so disgusted. HA! Max loved it though, and it lasted him a few days.
I just need to find the right kind of recipes. And a big thanks to all of you for posting so many recipes that sound amazing! I'm going to give them a try.
I'll try extra hard to steer clear of the freezer section at Sam's Club this week. Promise.

Doctor's Appointment on Wednesday!

AZ countdown: 4 weeks 2 days. Can't wait!

A weekend of H's: Homemade Hummus and Hiking the Y

This weekend Max and Meagan let us borrow their kitchen aid! Since Dustin and I are addicted to hummus, (and since it's wayyy easy and hard to mess up) we got a random recipe offline and made it!
15oz chickpeas
2 tablespoons roasted garlic (we put in 4 because we're also addicted to garlic)
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice (we probably put in 1 1/2 because we couldn't taste it that much)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
easy peasy.

Yesterday after work/Dustin and Sam going paintballing we hiked the Y since it was so sunny... and I partly didn't want to study...

1/2 oz grilled chicken breast cubed ( I seasoned it with a little salt and pepper)
1 apple diced into cubes
2 stalks of celery chopped
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Stevia to taste

Mix everything together. Let is chill before you eat. Super good and yummy.

Gen Con Weekend

On Saturday night my friend Ariel and her husband invited us to stay at their cabin in park city! I have loved going to her cabin since freshman year and I was excited for Dustin to get to go because her cabin is NICE!

Sunday morning we ate bfast and watched the morning session. Dustin and I got addicted to their shuffle board... and he wanted me to post the other picture...

After the morning session Dustin and I left for SLC. The person who owns the parking garage we parked in must have been mormon or something because it was free! After walking like 10 steps out of the parking garage this random couple rolled down their windows and asked us if we wanted a ride to the Conference Center. They were in Sunday clothes looked legit so we took the ride. After waiting for like 10 minutes outside the Conference Center for somebody to give us tickets I got us some! The line to get in was SUPER long... but then I heard someone yelling my name! My friends from EFY were towards the front of the line so we didn't have to wait super long. When we got in we realized where our tickets were... PLAZA 1 aka the FLOOR! This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that I've never sat anywhere but the very top so I was super excited. Especially since we were in the corner where the First Presidency walks out! We got some pictures but my camera is wayyyyyyy old so they are super blurry... sorry!

After conference got out it was super windy but we stopped by temple square to take a quick picture.

p.s. it may or may not have taken me all day to figure out how this thing works... and I still don't know how to put the picture where I want it... sorry it looks weird!

Hello Everyone!!!

Hello Everyone!!!!
I am trying to get this figured out!  I think I have it.  I am just going to figure out how to upload pictures.  I thought I would give you a run down of how we are here.

Neal has started his new job, but he still hasn't gotten the formal paper work to be moved to that position.  He is still helping out with his old job too.  He played a game with the youth Wednesday night where you have a very big ball (like our green one downstairs) and you walk like a crab and have to kick the ball and try to score on your opponent.  It was really fun, but I could not walk like a crab for very long without having extreme soreness.

Matthew is almost finished with swim.  He is swimming for Breast Cancer today.  His group painted their shirt with the word "Haboobs" - after the dust storms of course :).  He will get a pink swimmers cap for participating.  He is practicing piano harder again.  He kind of took a leave for a bit and I am not sure why.  I am glad that he is up and going again though.  He really loves it especially when he has a song he likes.

Lauren and I are going to do some girl stuff this next week.  It is fall break and Neal and Matthew have a youth conference at Camp LoMia Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  We are going to go get a new outfit for Brynn, her Build a Bear, and of course shop and eat.  Lauren is going to be Dorothy for Halloween - if we can find a dress she likes.  We might go see if they have a pattern for one to make.

It is nice and cool here now.  I am guessing that it means it is cold in Utah. The house is sometimes too quiet.  I think I told you all we took out the stair railing that was in the green room and put in a wall.  It looks so nice.  We are going to put a gate at the top of the stairs.  That should be coming next week.  Then we got some new couches in the green room.  I like them a lot.  It is a couch, love seat, and a chair and ottoman.  I got some material to cover that little seat that is by the kitchen table (hopefully I can send a picture).  It is the one that is pink and blue southwest looking right now.  I got the the same material as the window seat.  I am hoping to get that done next week. I am in a fix up the house mode.  I am liking school.  I am trying to finish my classes early.  They finish the first of December and I am hoping to have them done by the middle of November, a week before Thanksgiving.  I am taking BPC110 and Eng 101.  I have made some power point presentations and even a few excel spreadsheets.  Following the directions in the book make it really easy. I am loving my calling as a Bear Leader.  We have 13 boys in there.  One is a non member.

New Couches, notice the wall in the background.
This is a picture of the cushions I am going to cover.  The brown material over the top is what I am going to cover them with.
Another view of the couches.

I loved all the talks in conference.  One of my favorite parts was when the Tabernacle Choir sang I Believe in Christ.  I love that hymn.  I think it is my favorite.  I was thinking of the conference talks and thought what a powerful testimony Bruce R. McConkie left with writing that song.  With the world going so much in the direction of denying Christ, I thought those words from the song are exactly how I feel.  I thought I would never want anyone to wonder whether or not I believe in Christ.  I want them to know that I do.

RECIPE - I thought I would share a twist on the Rhodes Roll recipes that I usually make.  I like this way a lot - it is mostly like the Parmesan Rolls I usually make.  You can make them in a muffin pan.  Soften the rolls a little (they are still a little cold and have not risen at all, just not hard) and then cut or slice them in half.  Grease the muffin pan and then put three of the little cut up rolls in the muffin cup.  So, it is like a roll and a half in each cup.  Then put butter on the top and Parmesan and let raise and cook the regular way.  It makes a really nice cloverleaf roll.  I hope all is well with all of you!  I love you all a lot!
